Letters to the Woman I Used to Be

The woman I used to be

An apology. A thank you. A letting go.

You did what you had to do. Even when you were afraid. Even when you didn’t have the answers, or the love, or the hand you needed to hold. I’ve been hard on you, and I’m sorry.

You weren’t supposed to be perfect. You were just trying to survive. There’s so much I wish I could tell you — how worthy you were before the healing, how lovable you were even in the chaos. If I could go back, I wouldn’t change you. I’d just hold you. I’d sit with you on the floor and say, “We’re going to get through this. One scar at a time.”

To the woman I used to be: thank you. You carried us here.

— She ♡
